Some men measure the quality of their loyalty and spirit by the quantity of its effervescence. There are always at least a few men who take the evening before the big games to display a childish enthusiasm at Memorial, by throwing bread and other more substantial missiles.

If the sport were as harmless as it is childish, only personal preference would have to be consulted. But serious damage, not only to apparel, but more important, to valuable portraits has been done through mere thoughtlessness. Such ill-judged zeal should not be tolerated, even under the guise of college spirit.
