The present prospects for a successful season for the University chess team are unusually good, inasmuch as thirty-three men have reported as candidates for the University and Freshman teams, the largest number on record. Fifteen matches have been arranged for, including the annual Harvard-Columbia-Yale-Princeton meet in New York during the Christmas holidays.
