NO FOOTBALL SONG COMPETITION

Any Good Rousing Songs Should Nevertheless be Submitted.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

There will be no regular competition this year to pick out new songs for the football games. It is strongly urged, however, that all men who are so inclined write out new songs and hand them in for consideration to N. L. Tibbetts '15. This must be done as soon as possible in order that any new songs may be learned before the big games begin.

A few essential points should be noticed by all who undertake this task. First, the tune should be simple, catchy, and above all else singable. Second, there should be strength of purpose and confident fighting spirit in the music. The standard of comparison will be the songs which we already have.

With regard to the words, they should be expressive of the College spirit but such as can be easily memorized. Again, there should be an absence of the pugnacious spirit which characterizes some football songs. The composers of songs are requested not to use the name of any other college, so that their compositions may be used for any game.
