HARVARD CLUB SEEKS LIBRARY

Librarian Sends Out Request for Books Relating to Harvard.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The library of the Harvard Club of Boston, through the generosity of numerous graduates, has collected several hundred volumes, reports, and catalogues, and an interesting collection of memorabilia. This is the nucleus of the library, which, for the present at least, must rely on the willingness of the club's members to contribute to its shelves. Though the Directors have not yet determined what sum can be appropriated for the purchase of books, there have been received $500 to be expended on books of permanent interest, as a memorial to a graduate recently deceasd, and $50 from an outsider for immediate use.

William R. Thayer, the librarian, sends out a request for all sorts of Harvard material. Historical and biographical books pertaining to the College, and catalogues and reports are especially desired. It is the first purpose to collect as many books as possible about Harvard men autograph copies of works by Harvard authors, and complete files of every College magazine and paper. The second purpose is to assemble a library of several thousand volumes of the best books in many fields so that readers of the most diverse tastes will find something to interest them. The most desirable in this division are works of the standard novelists, books of travel, sport, history, reference, and current novels or works on topics of general interest.
