If careful investigation proves that the failure of many of the lately planted trees in the Yard is due to the pernicious influence of the famous but infested elms, the elms with all their halos of romantic glory should go. It is only a question of time now before they will all have disappeared; and the protests of sentiment against an immediate, rather than a lingering removal, are of little weight when the restoration of the Yard's beauty is at question.
