DRAMATIC CLUB WANTS PLAYS

At a recent meeting of the executive committee of the Dramatic Club, the date for the closing of the play competition was definitely set for October 10. This year the club will make a special effort to produce a comedy. In the past there has been a dearth of plays of this kind and pieces of a more serious nature have, of necessity, been produced. To arouse interest and induce men to submit plays in a lighter vein for the competition, the president, J. K. Hodges '14, has offered a prize of fifty dollars to be paid to the author of the comedy selected. While it is the policy of the club to produce long plays in the fall, one act pieces will be considered by the judges.

The production will take place probably sometime in the middle of December and trials for parts about the first of November. Notices will appear later concerning the candidacy not only for the acting but the stage and business departments as welk.

Next week, there will be an open meeting of the club at which some one intimately connected with the theatrical world will speak. The work of the coming season will also be outlined.
