75 FRESHMAN PLAYERS REPORTED

Good Crowd for First Football Practice.--Managers' Competition Starts.

The first practice of the Freshman football squad was held yesterday afternoon on Soldiers Field. About 75 candidates reported to Coach Chatfield, and were divided off into small groups under the assistant coaches. During an hour and a half the men were put through the usual early-season drill, practicing passing, catching, blocking, and dodging, and throwing the medicine ball. All candidates are expected to report at 3 o'clock this afternoon, and regular practice will be held every day at that hour.

1917 Managership Competition.

Candidates for manager of the Freshman football team will report at Soldiers Field this afternoon at 1.45 o'clock. The competition starts at once, and is open to all members of the class. No previous experience is necessary.
