EXETER WON GAMES IN RAIN

ONLY ONE RECORD BROKEN IN INTERSCHOLASTICS MARRED BY STORM.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The twenty-eighth annual Harvard interscholastic track meet held in the Stadium Saturday afternoon was won by Exeter Academy with 27 17-30 points. Andover was second with 30 1-6 points, and the scores of the other schools were as follows: Worcester Academy, 10 1-3; Powder Point, 10; Maine Central High, 5; Worcester Classical, 4 1-5; Manchester High (N. H.), 4; Lawrence High, 4; Portland High, 1; Lynn English High, 1; Noble and Greenough, 1-3; Wakefield High, 1-5; and Huntington School, 1-5. The feature of the meet was the pre-dominance of Exeter and Andover. Both schools had well-balanced teams, Exeter, in particular, scoring in all but two events.

Fast Races in Spite or Rain.

Before the preliminaries of the 100-yard dash, the second event of the meet, could be completed, a driving rain and wind storm made running impossible for an hour. The track for the rest of the afternoon was soft and in places covered with large puddles, in spite of which, however, some of the times were very good. In the mile run G. Dougherty of Exeter secured first place in 4 minutes, 37 seconds, which was fast time considering the conditions. C. A. Rice of Powder Point won both the 100 and 220-yard dashes, making the former through the mud in 10 and 2-5 seconds. The only record broken was in the field events, which were held in the Baseball Cage, R. H. Hitchcock of Exeter and H. Reed of Manchester High tieing for first place at 11 feet, 5 7-8 inches. Hitchcock cleared 11 feet, 8 1-2 inches on the jump-off, but this was not allowed to stand as a record.

The highest individual point winners of the meet were C. A. Rice of Powder Point School and C. Rodman of Andover, both securing two first places in the dashes and hurdles, respectively.
