Pennsylvania comes to Soldiers Field this afternoon for the second contest of the two-game series with the University team. The game will start at 3 o'clock.
Harvard won the first game at Philadelphia after a brilliant ninth inning rally by the score of 3 to 1. Felton and Captain Imlay had a pitchers' battle in which the Harvard twirler had slightly the better of the argument. The Pennsylvanian received poor support, however, especially in the last inning, when two errors gave the Harvard team three runs. Imlay will be in the box again today, while Felton will likely do the heavy work for Harvard.
Pennsylvania Team Erratic.
The Pennsylvania team has played good ball for the most part this season and is one of the heaviest hitting teams in the East. They have been unfortunate in making errors at critical stages of the championship games, which has accounted for the varied record of the team so far. Imlay has been considered one of the best college pitchers in the East for the last three years, and will be given a tryout by the Boston Red Sox after the close of the college season this year.
Tomes, who sprained his ankle and had to be taken from the Holy Cross game, is in fairly good shape again and will probably be at third base this afternoon. If he is not in condition, Phillips will take his place. Otherwise the line-up will be the same as in the Holy Cross game on Wednesday.
The batting orders follow: Clark and Wingate Lead Batters. Printed herewith are the batting averages of the members of the squad for the year to date. Clark leads with an average of .348 and Captain Wingate is two points behind him with .346. Ayres and Gannett are also batting for .300 or over. The averages:
