CRIMSON SCOOPED FOR FIRST TIME.

Ten o'clock edition: "With thousands of persons on deck to see the first college rowing race of the season the eights of Harvard, Princeton, and Pennsylvania got away on their mile and seven-eights race this afternoon shortly after 5 o'clock. The three shells came down to the starting line only a short time before the call to start. After some waiting the crews took their positions, Penn on the Boston side of the river, Harvard in the middle, and Princeton on the Cambridge side. . . .Thousands of persons lined the esplanade. . . Harvard appeared to have the edge."

Such was the vivid description of the start of Saturday's race as seen by one of Boston's news-gatherers. For up-to-date journalism we have seen nothing to equal it and, coming as it does from one of our most accurate journals, we cannot but believe it. We are sorry that our reporter was unable to be present at the race and regret exceedingly that we, therefore, cannot give our readers an account of it this morning.
