The University tennis team defeated the University of Pittsburgh in a fourman tournament on Jarvis Field yesterday afternoon by the score of 6 to 0. The most interesting match was that between E. H. Whitney '14 and McEllroy, which was a close contest throughout. The Pittsburgh team showed the effects of lack of practice, and had a tendency to be wild. Most of the play consisted of volleying with brilliant rallies.

The summary:

Singles.--E. H. Whitney '14 defeated McEllroy, 6-3, 4-6, 6-2; W. M. Washburn, Jr., '15 defeated Wright, 6-2, 6-1; E. R. Hastings, Jr., '14 defeated Lytle, 6-2, 6-4; E. H. Woods '14 defeated Flood, 7-5, 5-7, 6-4.

Doubles.--E. H. Whitney '14 and W. M. Washburn, Jr., '15 defeated McEllroy and Flood, 6-0, 6-4; E. H. Woods '14 and A. J. Lowrey '13 defeated Wright and Lytle, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.
