The candidates for membership on the Board of Overseers, five new members of which are to be elected on Commencement Day, June 19, have been announced as follows: R. L. Agissiz '92, of Boston; H. P. Amen '79, of Exeter, N. H.; F. G. Balch '88, of Boston; T. K. Cummins '88, of Boston; C. P. Curtis '83, of Boston; J. F. Curtis '99, of Boston; G. D. Cushing '85, of Boston; D. A. Ellis '94, of Boston; F. P. Fitch '75, of Boston; H. W. Foote '97, of Cambridge; C. A. deGersdoff '87, of New York; J. W. Hallowell '01, of Boston; W. Hooper '80, of Manchester; L. P. Marvin '98, of New York; G. H. Palmer '64, of Cambridge; F. C. Shattuck '68, of Boston; W. R. Thayer '81, of Cambridge; C. H. Tweed '65, of New York; F. Winsor '93, of Concord.
The Overseers whose terms expire next Commencement Day are: W. E. Endicott, Jr., '87, of Boston; G. D. Markham '81, of St. Louis; R. S. Peabody '66, of Boston; and W. A. Gaston '80, of Boston. The term of Rt. Rev. William Lawrence '71 as a member of the Board of Overseers also would have expired next Commencement, had he not resigned from that Board recently, when he was elected a Fellow.
The committee of the Harvard Alumni Association appointed to suggest candidates' names has selected the list. The names of the 10 candidates who receive the largest number of votes in the postal ballot of the alumni will be placed upon the official ballot for Commencement.
