The University baseball team will play the first game of its season against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park, Jersey and Landsdowne streets, Boston, tomorrow afternoon at 3.30 o'clock. Fenway Park may be reached by taking the Subway to Park street and transferring there to a Chestnut Hill (via Ipswich street) car.
In the past two weeks, the University squad has had considerable outdoor practice, but the make-up of the team is still unsettled, and in all probability nearly everyone will be given a try-out tomorrow. Practice games have been played with the Freshman and second University teams in order to drill the men into shape for the early-season games, but even Coach Sexton is undecided as to the personnel of the nine.
The team will start its Southern trip Friday, leaving at 3 o'clock for Philadelphia, where it will spend Friday night. They then go to Baltimore, where they meet Johns Hopkins Saturday afternoon. The selection of the men who will make this trip will depend largely on the showing made in tomorrow's game. Although Felton will probably start in as pitcher, shifts will be made throughout the game.
The Red Sox have recently been training in the South. Three years ago they defeated the University team, 4 to 1; two years ago the "Yanigans" won, 4 to 2, and last year the Red Sox won, 2 to 0.
Tickets for the game are on sale at Leavitt & Peirce's, and they may also be purchased from the H. A. A. Office. The prices will range from $1 for reserved seats to $1.25 and $1.50 for box seats.
The tentative batting orders are as follows:
