General Hazard Stevens has been chosen as the Memorial Day speaker at the exercises in Sanders Theatre on May 30. Entering Harvard in the class of 1864, he spent only one year at college before enlisting. From the office of lieutenant, he rose steadily through gallant and meritorious service until he was made brigadier general in 1865. He was admitted to the bar in 1870 and has been prominent in politics ever since.
