BOWDOIN GAME TODAY AT 4

FIRST HOME GAME OF THE SEASON FOR UNIVERSITY BASEBALL TEAM.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The University baseball team will play the first home game of the season this afternoon when it meets Bowdoin on Soldiers Field at 4 o'clock.

It is not expected that the University team will be pushed to its utmost as Bowdoin to all appearances has not a much stronger team than last year when Harvard won a 4 to 0 victory. Wesleyan defeated Bowdoin on Friday by the score of 9 to 8.

In place of Young who injured his nose in practice before the Columbia game on Friday, Osborn will be the backstop. This leaves Clark on second where he teamed so well with Wingate against Georgetown and Columbia. Frye will start in the pitcher's box this afternoon with Gannett playing his position in right field. Winter will be tried out on third base though he has been substitute for Clark at second in previous games. Ayres is a fixture at first base as a result of his heavy hitting in the Columbia game. The outfield which hit well on the southern trip as a rule will be made up: Gannett in right, Hardwick in centre and Milholland in left field.

The probable batting orders follow: HARVARD  BOWDOIN. Frye, p.  r.f., Weatherill Wingate, s.s.  s.s., Tilton Clark, 2b.  c.f., Skolfield Gannett, r.f.  3b., McElwell Ayres, 1b.  c., La Case Milholland, l.f.  2b., Daniels Hardwick, c.f.  1b., Eaton Winter, 3b.  l.f., Russell Osborn, c.  p., Dodge, Knight
