A tennis team, composed of six members of the University, was defeated Saturday by the Seventh Regiment team of New York by the score of 6 to 3. R. N. Williams '16, who played first man on the independent team, won the only singles match, while two of the three doubles matches were won by Harvard. The summary follows:
Singles.--R. N. Williams '16 defeated W. M. Hall, 6-3, 7-5; A. M. Lovibond defeated W. M. Washburn '15, 6-3, 6-3; R. T. Bryan defeated J. S. Pfaffman '16, 8-6, 6-2; K. Smith defeated A. J. Lowrey '13, 7-5, 6-2; G. G. Moore, Jr., defeated H. G. Smith '13, 6-1, 6-4; L. H. Fitch defeated J. C. Devereux '14, 4-6, 13-11, 6-4.
Doubles.--R. N. Williams '16 and W. M. Washburn '15 defeated W. M. Hall and A. M. Lovibond, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4; J. S. Pfaffman '16 and A. J. Lowrey '13 defeated R. T. Bryan and M. S. Clark, 6-2, 3-6, 6-2; K. Smith and G. G. Moore, Jr., defeated H. G. Smith '13 and J. C. Deverenx '14, 7-5, 6-1.
