FUND INCREASED TO $10,500

Since active work has ceased on the part of the collectors for the New Gymnasium Fund, about $500 has been received from the entire undergraduate body, making a total of about $10,500. But only about 52 per cent of the college has subscribed, and collectors have again been appointed to canvass the rest of the college. As there will be only two or three men from each class for this task, the undergraduates should help them in every possible way, and it would save a great deal of work on their part if the men in each class who have not contributed would mail their pledges to one of the collectors as soon as possible. The following men have been appointed, and will take up their work immediately after the vacation:

Junior Class--J. Wentworth, Hampden 2; E. Blaine, Randolph 38; F. H. Storms, Hampden 11.

Sophomore Class--J. Garland, 28 Little's Block; J. C. Talbot, 28 Plympton street.

Freshman Class--A. Biddle, Randolph 12; H. Amory, Jr., Claverly 46.

The members of the Senior Class who have not contributed, of whom there are about 44 per cent of the class, should send in their pledges to A. J. Lowrey '13, Holworthy 5. Simply because no collectors are appointed from the Senior class, it does not mean that the members of the class are excused from contributing.

Dean Briggs is at present getting in touch with graduates who are interested in the work, and it is probable that an alumni committee will be formed, which will collect enough from graduates of the University to complete the fund. The undergraduate contributions will be turned over to this committee as soon as the greater part of the college has contributed. At Dartmouth College over $25,000 was raised among the students, and it is hoped that the contributions of the undergraduates at Harvard will equal this sum.
