The Brown gymnastic team won the meet in the Hemenway Gymnasium last night by 33 points to 21. Hincks, the Brown captain, was the individual star with a total of 17 points.
The meet was very evenly contested up to the swinging rings. In this event, however, the University team showed up very poorly, Brown winning all three places. In justice to the men, it should be said that they are for the most part inexperienced, and did very well under the circumstances.
Immediately following the meet, the Brown team gave an exhibition.
The summary:
Horizontal bar.--Won by Hincks, Brown; second, Gates, Harvard; third, Mattison, Brown.
Side horse.--Won by Morton, Harvard; second, Hincks, Brown; third, Hobby, Harvard.
Parallel bars.-- Won by Gates, Harvard; second, Hincks, Brown; third, Morton, Harvard.
Swinging rings.--Won by J. Wilson, Brown; second, H. Wilson, Brown; third Mattison, Brown.
