On behalf of the student body of Harvard, the CRIMSON offers to former President Eliot the heartiest congratulations on his seventy-ninth birthday. May he be granted many years more in which to continue that work which has put him in the foremost position among the men of his time. Not only Harvard University, the institution which his genius raised from scholastic reclusion to practical efficiency and whose destinies he guided for more than forty years--not only Harvard, but the whole nation has need to be thankful that the full force of this great man's faculties has been preserved to us.
