The question of having a coach for the gymnastic team is brought to our attention by a communication printed in another column. It is a point well-urged and the CRIMSON feels justified in upholding the sentiment expressed. That the gymnastic team would be one of the successful minor sports under favorable conditions is evidenced by the comparatively large number of men who consistently support the team in spite of the handicaps under which it works. Gymnastics offers unexcelled opportunities for physical training, but to maintain a team any longer under conditions so unfavorable that it cannot do honor to the University is folly. Abandoning a sport with such great possibilities would always be regretted; therefore the Athletic Association should provide a coach in order that the gymnastic team may be worthy of the University it represents.
