BOOK-PLATE EXHIBITION

The Fogg Museum will continue for a short time the present exhibition of book-plates engraved by the late Edwin Davis French. The prints, about one hundred and seventy-five in number, are a loan to the Museum from Mr. Pierre la Rose's collection. They are all artists's proofs, with the exception of a few original drawings. The selection of prints embraces the various types of ex-libris, from book-piles and library interiors to portraits and armorials. Of especial local interest are the plates which were engraved for the Harvard Library and for several of the Harvard undergraduate clubs, and an unpublished print of the Harvard College Yard.

There are on exhibition also several large lithographs by Joseph Fennell, etchings by Herman A. Webster, Whistler's Thames set, and wood-engravings by Cole, Kruell, Wolf, Kingsley, and others.
