A graduate of the University, whose name has not bee announced, has made an endowment for the establishment of a professorship of Latin-American History and Economics. The purpose of the course will be to familiarize students with the importance of American interests in the Latin-American republics and to give them a knowledge of the history and conditions existing in those countries. The income from this permanent, fund will be devoted to the salary of the professor chosen, and the surplus, if any, will be devoted to the purchase of books, to defraying the expenses of persons invited to speak in the University, or used for such other purposes as the authorities shall determine. Whenever the professorship becomes vacant and until the vacancy is filled, the income will be devoted to carrying on the instruction of Latin-American History and Economics in the University.
