THE CHRISTMAS VACATION

And still men are asking for additional time at Christmas. It was clearly stated when the announcement of the extension of the Christmas vacation was made that no extra time could be given. The matter is out of the hands of the Dean or the Faculty, for, when the Corporation voted the extension, it did so on condition that no more time should be allowed. It is unfortunate if a man has only one class on Saturday and would like to have that class changed to Friday; but the rule is definite and inviolable. He must register after his last College engagement and College engagements cannot be broken. If there are any left who are too dull to understand the rule or who are self-pitying enough to see reasons why they alone should be allowed to break it, then they deserve any ill-temper which may fall to them from the Dean, whose misfortune it is to have to listen to them.
