FRESHMEN LOSE TO HILL SCHOOL

Contest Characterized by Alternate Ragged and Brilliant Play.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Freshman football team was defeated by Hill School at Pottstown on Saturday by the score of 19 to 12. The game was hard-fought and spectacular, but not consistently well played, as long runs, that should have been stopped, and fumbles, figured largely in the final outcome.

The Freshmen kicked off against a strong wind. After an exchange of punts Hill rushed the ball to the 3-yard line, where the Freshmen held, taking the ball on downs. Sweetser's punt, however, went only to the 20-yard line, and on the next play a forward pass from Yates to Moseley resulted in Hill's first touchdown. Yates kicked the goal.

In the second quarter, the Freshmen by hard fighting carried the ball from the Hill 20-yard line for a touchdown by Boles. Sweetser failed to kick the goal. The Freshmen received the kick-off and again carried the ball to the Hill 2-yard line only to lose it on a fumble. Soon afterward, Yates ran back a punt from the 55-yard line for the second Hill touchdown. The try at goal failed.

Two Scores in Last Quarter.

No scoring was done in the third quarter but Hill had a little the advantage, twice rushing the ball 40 yards without being stopped. The fourth quarter opened with an attempted goal from placement by Yates, which failed. After the Freshmen had returned the ball to midfield, Wilcox broke loose for a 50-yard end run which resulted in a touchdown. Sweetser again failed to kick the goal. Hill, however, came back hard, and after taking the ball to Harvard's 15-yard line, scored on another forward pass, Yates to Moseley.
