PRINCESS THEATRE OFFERS PRIZE

$500 to be Awarded to Author of Best One-Act Play Submitted.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The management of the Princess Theatre, New York City, offers a prize of $500 for the best one-act play by a student of Harvard, Columbia, the University of Pennsylvania, Princeton, Vassar College, Cornell, Barnard College, Yale, Bryn Mawr College, the U. S. Naval Academy or the U. S. Military Academy. No limitations as to the type of play are imposed, but in making the award those plays which, in the opinion of the committee, conform to the policy of the Princess Theatre to produce plays unique or unusual in theme or treatment, will be most seriously considered. Because a play is a good piece of work or interesting does not insure its production at the Princess Theatre. It must possess striking novelty. The award will be made by a committee composed of Mr. Lee Schubert, Mr. W. M. Brady, Mr. Holbrook Blinn, Mr. Morris Gest, and Mr. F. Ray Comstock.

Under the conditions of the contest, the authors must be undergraduates of the institutions named. The plays must be original; no translations or adaptations will be considered. Each play submitted must be signed with a pseudonym only, and must be accompanied by a sealed envelope containing the real name. The contest will close on February 1, 1914, and manuscripts must be sent to the Princess Theatre, West 39th street, New York City. It is the intention of the management to produce the prize play.
