FOOTBALL IN BASEBALL CAGE

RAIN CAUSES LIGHT PRACTICE TO BE HELD THERE.--DAY UNEVENTFUL.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Unfavorable weather conditions yesterday forced the University football squad to desert the Stadium for the shelter of the Cage, where the instruction on technical points replaced the usual program of scrimmaging. Restricted indoor space prevented kicking, and forward passes were tried only for short distances. Most of the plays were run against an eleven of substitutes, without scrimmaging.

At the outset of the practice Bradlee took charge of the University, but Freedley later replaced him, and ran the team during the greater part of the afternoon. Mills, who has been playing at left guard, is suffering from a muscle bruise, his place being taken by Cowen. Brickley, who was also excused on account of a bruised hip, watched the drill. His place in the backfield was taken by Willetts. Coolidge and Dana alternated at right end.

Famous Former Players Assist.

In the instruction of the team yesterday, the regular staff of coaches was assisted by D. C. Campbell '02, captain and end of the famous 1901 team which defeated Yale 22 to 0, who gave the squad a talk in the Locker Building. Crawford Blagden '02, one of Harvard's greatest tackles, and James L. Knox '98, who used to be coach of the Freshman teams, also lent aid.

The University will be given very heavy work from now until the Pennsylvania State game. After this contest, which promises to be a hard fight, the players will slow down their pace in order to be in trim for the big games at the end of the schedule.

The University teams lined up as follows: TEAM A.  TEAM B. O'Brien, l.e.  r.e., L. Curtis Storer, l.t.  r.t., Gilman Cowen, l.g.  r.g., Weston Trumbull, c.  c., Soucy Pennock, r.g.  l.g., Underwood Hitchcock, r.t.  l.t., R. Curtis Coolidge, r.e.  l.e., Milholland Freedley, q.b.  q.b., Logan Mahan, l.h.b.  r.h.b., McKinlock Hardwick, r.h.b.  l.h.b., Amory Willetts, f.b.  f.b., Rollins
