PROBLEMS OF HUMAN LIFE

Professor Rudolph Eucken, exchange professor from the University of Jena, will deliver a series of six lectures on the general topic of "The Fundamental Problems of Human Life" at the Lowell Institute. These lectures will be given at 5 o'clock Tuesday and Thursday afternoons beginning January 7. The subjects of the separate lectures are as follows:

January 7.--"A Justification of Idealism."

January 9.--"A Defence of Morality."

January 14.--"Religion and Philosophy."

January 16.--"The Greatness of Kant."

January 21.--"Goethe as a Philosopher."

January 23.--"Realism and Idealism in the Nineteenth Century."

Six Lectures on Wordsworth.

Professor Emil Legouis of the Sorbonne, will also deliver a series of lectures under the auspices of the Institute on "William Wordsworth." The dates and titles of the lectures, which will begin at 8 o'clock in the evening, are as follows:

January 7.--"Early Years, Education, and Early Verse."

January 10.--"Revolutionary Enthusiasm, Godwinism, and Pessimism."

January 14. -- "Wordsworth's New Reading of Man and Nation."

January 17.--"His Optimism and Nature Worship Confirmed."

January 21.--"His Struggle with Despondency and His Growing Conservatism."

January 24.--"The Unity of His Career and the Essentials of His Poetry."

Tickets for both courses of lectures may be procured by applying to the Curator of the Institute at Huntington Hall, 491 Boylston street, Boston. One stamped self-addressed envelope should be enclosed for each ticket desired.
