Professor Jean Beck, of the University of Illinois, will deliver the second of a series of live lectures, at the invitation of the French and German Departments and the Cercle Francais, in the lecture room of the Fogg Museum this afternoon at 4.30 o'clock. The subject for this afternoon is "La naissance de l'opera en France." The lecture will be in French and open to the public.
Tomorrow afternoon Professor Beck will lecture in German on "Das deutsche Volkslied," and on Thursday on "La chansonnette francaise au XIX siecle: par qui et pourquor, comment et pour qui est composee et chantee." Both of these lectures will be delivered in the Fogg Lecture Room at 4.30 o'clock, and will be open to the public. All three will be accompanied by musical illustrations.
