SWIMMING TEAM VICTORIOUS

Defeated Andover Saturday, 31 to 20, In First Meet of Year.--Times Not Exceedingly Fast.

The swimming team defeated the Brookline Gymnasium Swimming team last evening in an exceedingly close meet by a score of 32 to 31 points. Every event, with the exception of the diving competition was very closely contested. By far the best work of the evening was done by H. R. Hitchcock, Jr., '14, who won first place in the forty, hundred, and two hundred and twenty yard dashes, all in very fast time, thus scoring to total of 15 points. J. Greenough '15, with a plunge of 58 feet, made a very creditable showing.

The summary:

First relay race.--Won by Brookline (Browning, Carolan, Handy, Sutherland) Time, 1 min., 26 4-5 sec.

Second relay race.--Won by Harvard (M. J. Logan '15, K. C. Parker '14, E. R. Starbuck ;'14, J. Wentworth '14). Time, 1 min., 31 sec.

40-yard dash.--Won by H. R. Hitchcock, Jr., '14; second, Naison (B.); third, Lesher (B.). Time, 20 sec.

100-yard dash.--Won by H. R. Hitchcock '14; second, Wilks (B.); third, Naison (B.). Time, 1 min., 1 1-5 sec.

200-yard dash.--Won by H. R. Hitchcock, Jr., '14; second, Duffy (B.); third, Keith (B.). Time, 2 min., 48 2-5 sec.

Plunge.--Won by J. Greenough '15, 58 ft.; second, D. R. Sigourney '15, 46 ft.; third, Keith (B.), 39 ft.

Dive.--Won by Naison (B.); second, McCarthy (B.); third, S. Steinberg '13.
