The Governing Board of the Harvard Union and the Executive Committee of the Harvard Federation of Territorial Clubs at a joint meeting have agreed upon the following plan for those clubs of the Federation who desire to adopt it, subject to the conditions mentioned below. The Union has allotted the Assembly Room permanently to the Federation for use as a club room and meeting place, the room to be fitted out suitably. All men at present members of the clubs adopting the plan will be entitled to the use of the room during the rest of their College course, but all new members of these clubs and of any new clubs formed by or taken into the Federation, must be members of the Union, and no clubs refusing this condition are to be entitled to the use of the room.
The Governing Board has appointed the Executive Committee of the Federation as a Union Committee to have entire charge of the matter. This committee consists of the following men: J. B. Langstaff '13, chairman; P. B. Halstead '13, W. R. Bowles '13, S. P. Speer '13, and S. H. Olmsted '13, and is entitled "The Union Territorial Clubs Committee."
Six of the most prominent clubs of the Federation have already adopted the plan enthusiastically. There has not yet been time to approach a large majority of the clubs as to their feelings, but it is expected in view of the obvious advantages of the scheme, that the remaining clubs will likewise enter into the agreement. The clubs which have already joined are those of Brooklyn, Buffalo, Chicago, Cotton Belt States, Minnesota, and Pennsylvania.
The Governing Board is sparing no pains in making the room attractive and comfortable. Not only have such furnishings as curtains, rugs and pictures been ordered, but a complete set of comfortable leather chairs, tables, and writing desks, is being made and the fire-place equipped for use.
