BROWN WINS IN ELEVENTH

AFTER HARD UP-HILL FIGHT BY UNIVERSITY HAD TIED SCORE IN SEVENTH.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

In by far the most interesting baseball game seen on Soldiers Field in many a day Brown defeated the University team by a score of 5 to 4 yesterday afternoon. After a discouraging start of 3 runs against them in the first inning, due to Felton's presenting the visitors with five bases on balls, the University men, with Hardy pitching cool and excellent ball and holding Brown to one additional run, set out and tied the score. Three of the runs came in on singles by Clark in the fourth and sixth innings, and the tying one on a wild throw of Snell's in the seventh.

Brown made the winning run in the eleventh through no fault of Hardy's. Reilly, the man who scored, sent up a high fly which Clark caught safely. As he drew back his hand to throw, however, the ball slipped to the ground and the umpire called Reilly safe.

A hard attempt of the University men to retie the score in their half of the inning was spoiled by Loud's nice catch of Clark's short outfield hit.
