The first baseball game in the series with Brown will be played on Soldiers Field this afternoon at 4 o'clock. The Brunonians as usual have an exceptionally strong nine, this year composed nearly entirely of veterans. Their record to date is one of the 12 victories out of 14 contests played. Brown has been defeated by Princeton 2 to 1 and by Cornell 3 to 1, but has won from Vermont 5 to 2 and from Yale 3 to 1. Last year the University team split even in the Brown series, taking the Cambridge game 11 to 1 but losing the return contest in Providence 7 to 2.
The University team will today be handicapped by the loss of Reeves, who will be out of the game because of his sprained ankle. Young, who will catch in his place has a split finger. Bartholf will probably start the game in the box for Harvard, while Brown will probably use either Warner or Conzelman both of whom pitched in Cambridge last year.
The batting orders:
Harvard: s.s., Wingate; 3b., Gibson; l.f., Babson; 2b., Potter; 1b., Clark; c.f., Coon; r.f., Reynolds; c., Young; p., Bartholf, Felton or Hardy.
Brown: r.f., Crowther; 2b., Dukette; s.s., K. Nash; c., Snell or Henry; l.f., Loud; 1b., Durgin; 3b., Reilly; c.f., R. Nash; p., Conzelman, Warner, Cram or Redington.
Freshmen vs. Morris Heights.
The Freshman baseball team will play Morris Heights on Soldiers Field this afternoon at 4 o'clock. The probable batting order: l.f., Alsop; c.f., Winlock; 1b., Ayres; r.f., Gannett; 2b., de Windt; 3b., Phillips; p., Frye; s.s., Winsor; c., Wharton.
Second Team and Holy Cross Second.
The second University baseball team will play their seventh game with the Holy Cross second on Soldiers Field, this afternoon at 4 o'clock. Following is the probable batting order: r.f., Conant; 3b., Curtis; s.s., Avery; 2b., Hoogs; c., Osborn; 1b., Milholland; c.f., Clark; l.f., Bolton; p., Hitchcock or Buffum.
