GOOD BALL PLAYED YESTERDAY

PITCHERS' BATTLE WITH VERMONT IN WHICH ONLY TWO MEN REACHED THIRD.

In a 0 to 0 tie game with the University of Vermont which went 11 innings yesterday afternoon, the varsity base-ball team gave evidence of the fact that it can play good ball when the occasion requires. Not an error was made by the University team, and several stellar fielding performances were features of the game.

Felton was working in fine form and allowed the visitors but two hits, striking out 12 men. He showed a tendency toward wildness, however giving nine passes, but was steady with men on bases. Malcolm really pitched a more masterful game than Felton, for he allowed only two bases on balls, and had the Harvard batsmen at his mercy throughout.

Each team got a man to third base once during the game. In the second inning, Berry for Vermont, received a pass and was sacrificed to second and third. Felton walked Fraser, but Williams was an easy out to Clark.

In the eighth inning Wigglesworth was hit by the pitcher, sacrificed to second by Felton, and stole third. There he died, however, when Wingate flied out and Coon, who was sent in to bat for Desha, fanned.

Wigglesworth furnished the feature of the game by a pretty running catch of Flaherty's long fly in the sixth inning. Reeves's throwing to second was excellent; he caught four men stealing.
