Final Class Constitution

ARTICLE I.

Members.

Section 1.-The members of the Class of - shall be:

(a) All men who are candidates for the degree of A.B. or S.B. in -.

(b) All men who have received, or will receive their degrees as of the Class of -.

(c) All men who are fourth year special students.

Section 2.-Men in the University not included under any of these classifications who entered with the class of - but who are not officially registered with the class of - may on petition receive the right to vote with the Class.

Section 3.-No man who has voted in any previous Class Day election shall be eligible to vote.

Section 4.-A provisional list of members of the Class shall be compiled by the nominating Committee hereinafter mentioned and shall be posted before the first Friday in December.

Section 5.-Any man whose name is not on the list of members of the class compiled by the Nominating Committee may petition the Committee to enter his name thereon. Such petitions must be delivered to the Committee before the Monday following the first Friday in December, and shall be passed upon finally by the Committee.

ARTICLE II.

Officers.

Section 1.-The officers of the Class shall be First, Second and Third Marshals, Secretary, Treasurer, Orator, Ivy Orator, Poet, Odist, and Chorister.

Section 2.-The duties of these officers shall be those usually incumbent upon their offices.

Section 3.-The First Marshal shall act as the Class President and the Secretary as Class Secretary until Class Day. At meetings of the Class after Class Day the First Marshal shall preside, and in the absence the Second Marshal, and in the absence of both, the Third Marshal.

Section 4.-The Treasurer shall be a regular member of the Class Committee. The three Marshals and the Secretary shall be ex officiis members of the Class Committee.

Section 5.-Senior Class Officers shall hold office for life.

ARTICLE III.

Nomination of Officers.

Section 1.-Before December 1 of the Senior year, the President of the Class shall appoint a Nominating Committee of five members, no one of whom shall be a member of a final club or shall be generally considered a candidate for a Class office other than a committee.

Section 2.-The Nominating Committee shall have general charge of the Class elections. Before the Friday preceding the second Wednesday in December, it shall nominate at least two candidates for each Class office.

Section 3.-Additional nominations for Class offices may be made by petition of twenty-five members of the Class to the Nominating Committee such petitions, with the exception of those for Secretary and Committeemen must be received before Monday preceding the second Wednesday in December.

Section 4.-The election of Senior Class Officers with the exception of Secretary and Class Committees shall be held on the second Wednesday of December.

Section 5.-Every elector shall vote for three candidates for Marshals, indicating his preference for First Marshal. Of the three elected, the candidate receiving the highest number of votes for First Marshal shall be declared First Marshal; of the other two, the one whose total vote is higher shall be seen ond Marshal, and the other one Third Marshal.

Section 6.-Within twenty-four hours after the election of Marshals and other Class officers, the Nominating Committee shall make nominations for Secretary and the Class Committees. Additional nominations may be made by petition of twenty-five members of the Class to the Nominating Committee; such petitions must be received before the Saturday following the second Wednesday in December.

Section 7.-The election of the Class Secretary and the Class Committees shall be held on the Tuesday after the second Wednesday in December.

Section 8.-Every elector shall vote for two candidates for the Class Committee, three for the Photograph Committee, and seven for the Class Day Committee. The two candidates receiving the highest number of votes for the Class Committee, the three candidates receiving the highest number of votes for the Photograph Committee, and the seven candidates receiving the highest number of votes for the Class Day Committee shall be declared elected. Each Committee shall elect its own Chairman.

Section 9.-If for any reason any office or position becomes vacant, the vacancy shall be filled by that candidate who received the next highest number of votes for that office or position.

Section 10.-Every ballot not containing the required number of names for Marshals or the respective Committees shall be declared invalid for the Marshals or those Committees.

Section 11.-The Australian ballot shall be used in all Class elections.

ARTICLE IV.

Meetings.

Section 1.-Meetings shall be called at the discretion of the President, or within six days after the receipt of a petition signed by twenty-five members of the Class stating the proposed discussion to be brought before the meeting. The purpose of all meetings and the subjects to be discussed therein should be published by the President two days before said meetings.

Section 2.-At meetings of the Class, except those for constitutional amendment, a quorum shall consist of seventyfive members of the Class.

Section 3.-Roberts' Rules of Order shall govern the proceedings of all meetings of the Class.

ARTICLE V.

Amendments.

Section 1.-This constitution may be amended by a two-thirds vote of members present at a special meeting.

Section 2.-Notice of this meeting, together with a statement of the nature of the proposed amendment, shall be published one week previous to the said meeting.

Section 3.-At all meetings for questions of Constitutional Amendment a quorum shall consist of a hundred and seventy-five members of the Class.

Section 4.-Any proposed amendment to this Constitution shall be presented first to the Executive Committee of the Student Council, which shall have the right to report through its representative concerning the amendment, at the meeting in which said amendment is to be voted upon
