FIRST LACROSSE PRACTICE

About 60 Candidates Reported and Were Coached in Elements of Game.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

About forty candidates for the University team and twenty for the Freshman team reported yesterday afternoon for the first lacrosse practice. With nine men back from last year's championship team, this large showing makes the prospects for a successful season unusually bright. S. Smith '09, a member of the team three years ago, assisted in coaching the University squad, while the Freshmen were put in charge of F. W. Hodgdon '11. The work consisted mainly of practice in throwing and catching, as there was no opportunity for any running. As soon as the ground is hard enough, goals will be put up on the field which was used last fall by the second football team, and practice games will begin.
