DEFENSIVE WORK EXCELLENT

Hockey Team Slow, But Played Well Together.--Protective Work Prevented Scoring.

The University hockey team held a 30-minute scrimmage with the B. A. A. in the Arena yesterday evening, in which it scored three goals to its opponents' one. The work of the men was naturally a little slow after Saturday's hard game, but except for this was good. Play was about the University goal the greater part of the time; but again good defensive work on the part of the whole team, and of Gardner in particular, prevented scores. Pierce, whose position has been the only one on the team at all in doubt, continued to show improved form, both on the offence and defence, and seems to have developed into the right man to make up the forward line with Duncan, Huntington and Sortwell.

The University's goals were scored by Duncan, Huntington and Palmer. They were all results of quick shooting from scrimmages about the goal. Hicks made the only score for the B. A. A., carrying the puck down the rink by himself, and, after skilfully eluding the defence, shooting it by Gardner for a goal.

The line-ups were as follows: HARVARD.  B. A. A. Palmer, l.e.  r.e., G. P. Gardner, Jr. Duncan, l.c.,  r.c., Hicks Huntington, r.c.,  l.c., Osgood Pierce, r.e.  l.e., Leslie Blackall, c.p.  c.p., Heron Willetts, p.  p., Whitney H. B. Gardner, g.  g., Canterbury
