Lack of Standardization Pointed Out by G. B. Leighton '88.

Mr. G. B. Leighton '88 delivered his second and last lecture on "Railway Track and Loading Gauges," yesterday afternoon. Mr. Leighton compared the various track gauges in use in various parts of the world today. Throughout Africa and South America, as well as Australia, the lack of standardization is very noticeable in track gauges. The experience of many railroads throughout the world has shown that the standard gauge of 4 feet, 8 1-2 inches is the most satisfactory in all respects. This gauge is rapidly being adopted by all progressive railroads.
