1915 DEBATING OFFICERS

Recent Elections, Subject of Debate and Dates of Trials Announced.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Freshman Debating Club held a meeting recently for the election of officers for this half-year. The following were elected: president, R. E. Shillady; vice-president, E. R. Roberts; secretary treasurer, J. Davis.

The triangular debate with Yale and Princeton on the subject, "Resolved, That the initiative and referendum should be generally adopted in the American states," will take place probably on May 15. Preliminary trials will be held on April 2 and 4, final trials on April 11. Two teams of three men each, and three alternates will be chosen. One of these teams will debate at Princeton and the other here against Yale.

In order to make the club more active, a motion was passed, excluding all men who have not been present at more than two regular meetings. This reduces the membership from 37 to 27.

All Freshmen are urged to join and to try for the debating teams in order to make these teams as successful as were the teams last year, which defeated both Yale and Princeton freshmen.

Men wishing to join the club should see J. Davis, Matthews 16.
