FIRST TEAM WON SCRIMMAGE

FAST WORK MARKED YESTERDAY'S PLAY.--NEXT PRACTICE ON JANUARY 1.

The first and second University hockey teams held a 20-minute scrimmage in the Arena yesterday, the first winning 3 to 2. The second team was, however, the aggressor during the greater part of the time and, displaying good team-work, the forwards penetrated the first team's defence frequently. The first forward-line lost several opportunities to score by delaying too long in passing when near the goal. An encouraging feature of the team's work was the fast playing on the rebound shots.

Yesterday's practice was the last until January 1, when the team will resume practice at the Arena.

The line-ups were as follows: FIRST TEAM.  SECOND TEAM. Morgan, Smart, r.e,  l.e., Baldwin Phillips, r.c.  l.c., Clark Sortwell, l.c.  r.c., Hanson Hopkins, l.e.  r.e., Stevens Claflin, c.p.  c.p., Graustein Willetts, p.  p., Handy Gardner, g.  g., Carnochan

Goals--Sortwell, 2; Gorham; Palmer; Phillips.
