LIGHT PRACTICE AT FIELD

News from the football team at Soldiers Field yesterday afternoon was not as encouraging as it has been for the past few days. The work was light again, the coaches seeming to be anxious over the condition of a good many of the first string men. There was no scrimmaging during the afternoon and the signal drill and formations which were run through by the teams were much shorter than usual for mid-week practice. It now seems probable that scrimmages will be few and far between before the Dartmouth and Yale games, for there are no chances to be taken in getting the men overtrained.

The list of injured men which Dr. Nichols has is now very formidable. In the first place, Captain Wendell has again turned his ankle; the seriousness of the injury could not be ascertained last night. Brickley has pulled a tendon in his kicking leg and is suffering considerable inconvenience from the injury. Coolidge has a bad case of water on the knee and will probably not be in condition until the Yale game at the earliest. Withington has also injured his knee and will be out of practice for several days. Bradley has a badly injured ankle. Trumbull tried to run through a little work yesterday afternoon, but had to retire from trouble with his side which was injured in the Princeton game. Weatherhead is out of the game for several days with an injured leg. T. Frothingham is also troubled with a return of the old injury to his shoulder. Of course, some of these men could be called on if needed in a game, but they are all in far from the best condition. Whether they will be in shape for the Dartmouth game cannot be said.

Squad at New London Before Yale Game.

Contrary to what has been done in the past, the squad will not go to Farmington this year to train for the Yale game. Instead, the backs, kickers and centres, accompanied by Manager Whitelock will leave Boston Thursday morning, November 21, at 9.15 o'clock and will travel direct to New Haven. After lunching at the Hotel Taft, the men will practice on Yale Field Thursday afternoon, in order to accustom themselves to the different conditions of light and the tendency of the wind on the Yale field. Late in the afternoon the players will go to New London, where they will stop at the Hotel Mohican. The rest of the squad will join them in New London Friday evening, coming direct from Cambridge. Indoor practice will be held that night in one of the local halls. Saturday morning the team will journey to New Haven, putting up at the Hotel Taft. A banquet will be held there Saturday night, after which the team will disband.
