1916 AND DORMITORY CREWS

Freshman crew work started yesterday afternoon. About fifty men reported at the Newell Boat House where Captain C. T. Abeles '13 of the University crew outlined the fall program. The men will be kept indoors on the machines for the first three or four days, when two crews will be picked to row under Coach Stephenson, who will be assisted at times by Coach Wray. The rest of the squad will then report at Weld for dormitory rowing.

The first day of dormitory rowing brought out only fifty men as against seventy-five last year and one-hundred the year previous. Four crews were made up by Coach Brown, who, with Coach Stephenson of the Freshmen, will have charge of secondary rowing this fall. Eights were formed from Randolph and Little's, and two other crews were made up under the titles "All Stars," and "Outsiders."

This showing is very poor, particularly from those dormitories which, in former years, have turned out good crews. It is hoped that all men in the University who are not engaged in other athletics will report at the Weld Boat House this afternoon at 3.30. No experience whatever is necessary.
