Communication

To the Editors of the CRIMSON:

An appeal has come to Americans from the people of China, asking, in the name of humanity and charity, assistance for those 600,000 families (which means nearly 3,000,000 people) who are starving in the present famine there. The Chinese themselves are doing all they can, but that is not much, for the revolution has made anything like sufficient provision impossible. Their chief reliance is therefore on the generosity of England and America, and $5,000,000 are needed.

The time is opportune. More neighborly relations will soon grow up between the two republics, the United States and China, and this appeal should not be disregarded, now of all times.

The Harvard Mission has undertaken, authorized and warmly supported by the Phillips Brooks House Association, to collect and send Harvard's contribution, and will endeavor to reach every student.
