Professor Altamira Will Discuss "Literature as the Fountain of Spanish History" in Emerson D at 8.

Professor Rafael Altamira of the University of Oviedo, Spain, will lecture on "Literature as the Fountain of Spanish History" in Emerson D this evening at 8 o'clock. Professor Altamira is one of the most celebrated historians in Europe. His most important publication is a great work in four volumes, now partly translated into English, entitled "Historia de Espana y de la Civilizacion Espanola." The great ability of the Spanish scholar has been variously recognized. He is a high official in the ministry of Public Instruction in Spain, a member of the Royal Academy of History, and has received among other decorations the Civil Order of Alphonso XII.

A year ago Professor Altamira went on a very successful mission to the Latin-American republics, and his main interest now is in bringing about a close relation between them and Spain. His lecture tonight, however, will deal with a more literary theme, and will be given in Spanish.
