YALE DEFEATED ARMY

Yale defeated West Point Saturday for the first time in three years. The final score was 6 to 0, the only touchdown being made by Philbin in the second period as the culmination of a long series of line rushes. His attempt at a goal from an easy angle, however, went wild. Yale had one other really good opportunity to score in the third quarter as a result of several line plunges and a well-executed forward pass from Spalding to Flynn. But the Army held for three downs and on the fourth recovered a fumble on the one-yard line. Hobbs quickly punted out of danger.

The only chance West Point had for a score came in the final period when they advanced the ball through consistent playing to Yale's 25-yard line, only to lose all they had gained because of a penalty for holding in the line and failure to complete a slowly executed forward pass.

The cadets were greatly handicapped by the loss of Captain Devore. Flynn again showed himself to be a brilliant open-field runner as well as powerful when hitting the line, but was very weak in the handling of punts.

Princeton 62, Syracuse 0.

Princeton again proved conclusively that it possesses one of the fastest backfields in the East by defeating Syracuse, 62 to 0. In the five games which Princeton has so far played it has scored a total of 234 points. In no game, however, has the line been given a severe defensive test and last Saturday a distinct weakness in charging was apparent. The scoring was due very largely to the Syracuse backs' inability to tackle, nearly every touchdown being the direct result of a long starting run.

The final score included nine touchdowns, eight of the attempts at goal being successful. Many changes were made in the line-up and over eighteen substitutes played through portions of the game.

Dartmouth 21, Williams 0.

While Dartmouth failed to run up as large a score against Williams as it has done against its previous opponents this year, the final result of 21 to 0 was by no means discouraging. The one apparent weakness was in Dartmouth's inability to gain through open plays, but a wet and slippery field greatly hampered successful dodging.
