At the first meeting of the Student Council in the Trophy Room of the Union last night officers for the ensuing year were chosen as follows: president, A. J. Lowrey '13, of Honolulu, Hawaii; vice-president, G. N. Phillips '13, of Middleton Springs, Vt.; secretary-treasurer, R. B. Batchelder '13, of Salem. H. B. Gardner, of New York, N. Y., and W. Tufts, Jr., of Boston, were elected members of the executive committee of the council from the Senior class, and H. R. Hitchcock, Jr., of Honolulu, Hawaii, and L. H. Mills, of Portland, Ore., were chosen from the Junior class.
Petitions largely signed by the three upper classes in regard to the oral examinations were referred to the executive committee. Letters were received from the Musical Review and the Engineering Journal applying for representation in the Council. A committee was also suggested to organize Freshman smokers and to get the Freshman Red Book started.
