At a meeting of the Cambridge board of aldermen and the city council held during the recess, it was voted to close Amherst street and several of the other streets which cross the proposed location of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's new buildings. By this action the last objection to that site was removed, and it is now practically certain Technology will move to the land fronting the Charles river immediately below Harvard Bridge.
