An alarm was turned in at about 10.40 o'clock last night from box 472 at the corner of Bow street and Massachusetts avenue. It was thought at first that the fire was in Hampden, but by the time the engines arrived smoke was discovered coming from the basement of Burke's tailor store. The conflagration was put out soon after the crowd had collected, but not until after a good deal of damage had been done by the smoke. The loss is estimated at between $200 and $300.
