Seven years after the death of Phillips Brooks, an institution bearing his name was dedicated at Harvard to be the home of the religious and philanthropic activities of the University. It was thought by those who contributed toward its establishment that a memorial of this kind would be the most fitting way of continuing the work in which Phillips Brooks was himself interested. The work carried on under the auspices of Brooks House has had a continually increasing importance in the University during the twelve years of its existence. The meeting tonight, addressed by President Lowell, should be a source of inspiration for increasing its influence and usefulness to the community still more in the years to come.
