The four new batting nets near the left field foul line of the University diamond on Soldiers Field were used for the first time yesterday. The nets are arranged in alley ways so that the batter must hit the ball in a given direction to send it out of the alley, with a view towards accuracy in placing the ball. Nets of the same description were used at Brown last year.
