THE EDITORIAL COMPETITION.

In this morning's issue the CRIMSON announces a new departure in the competition for positions on the board of editors. Requirements for election hereafter will be based either on general efficiency in news gathering, as heretofore, or on ability to write editorials. This innovation, which was suggested in a recent number of the Monthly, is adopted because the CRIMSON wishes to attract undergraduates of unusual writing ability. In every class there are a few such men, but oftentimes they have neither the time nor the inclination for the regular competition in news gathering.

In these editorial, competitions quality, not quantity, will be the primary consideration. In view of the fact that but two editorials a week will be required, these two will have to be above the average in subject matter and form.

This new way to make the CRIMSON is a recognition of the value of literary ability, and as such should appeal strongly to men with a talent for English Composition.
